HOW TO GET TO PANGLAO

Getting to Panglao, Bohol.

In Manila and Cebu you will find big international airports. Tagbilaran is the capital of the province Bohol, and the closest and only ‘big’ city in the region. Here you can also find the shopping malls and the supermarkets. Panglao Island is connected to mainland Bohol via bridges in Tagbilaran. In Tagbilaran, we have the ferry port from where you can easily travel to Panglao.

With the opening of Bohol’s new international airport, there will no longer be long layovers or troubles with connecting flights from Manila or Cebu. In the future they are planning to make this an international airport so that you can have a direct flight from several country’s in Asia. In the mean time you can fly from Manila and take a direct flight to the new Panglao Airport.

Another option to reach Bohol/Panglao would be taking the passenger ferry from Cebu City, Dumaguete City or Caguayan de Oro to Tagbilaran port. You can book your ferry ticket in advance online (see options below) or any travel agent can book you a ticket once you get to one of the origin cities. Most of the ferry company’s have multiple ferries leaving from 7 am to 10 pm.

Flying from Manila.

If you’re not flying directly to Panglao Island via one of the International airport hubs then travelling from Manila to Panglao is in most cases the easiest option. Manila is a big airport divided over four terminals with many daily direct flights from pretty much from all over the world.

From Manila, you travel by domestic flight to Panglao Island. The duration of this flight is about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Flying from Cebu.

The only airline flying from Cebu to Panglao and from Panglao to Cebu is Air Juan Aviation. At the moment the flights from Cebu to Panglao depart at 8:20 am, 11:50 am and 2:30 pm. Prices of the tickets depend on when you book, but usually, you can purchase a ticket for 1600php which is about 32usd.

Ferry from Cebu

If you land on Mactan International Airport, you first need to travel to the Cebu ferry port. Outside the airport, you can quickly grab a taxi. However, prices can vary, but you shouldn’t be paying more than 500php which is about 10usd.

Almost every hour there will be departing a fast ferry going to Tagbilaran. The two companies are Supercat and Oceanjet. Regular tickets are 600php, and business class tickets are 1000php which is about 30usd. You can buy your ticket outside, in front of the terminal. Please note that after buying your ticket you have to pay a small amount for the terminal fee and your luggage.

The last fast ferries depart in Cebu around 6 pm. If you don’t want to stay in Cebu overnight, you can take the slow cargo and passenger ferry of the Lite Shipping Company for about 400php which is about 8usd. There is one ferry leaving Cebu at 3 pm and one at midnight every day of the week. The trip via slow ferry will take about 4 hours from Cebu to Tagbilaran.

Tip.

The Grab taxi app is quite popular in both Manila and Cebu, so before you come to the Philippines be sure to download and activate your app. If using the app it will cost you somewhere between 200php and 300php which is around 5 USD.

How to get to Haka Dive Center.

From the ferry port.

Once you arrive in Tagbilaran port in Bohol, you have 2 options.

Tricycle.Taking a tricycle from Tagbilaran port will cost you around 400php, which is about 8usd. The drive is around 45 minutes going to Haka Dive Center.

Taxi/Van.We can arrange a taxi/van on arrival in Tagbilaran port, this will be 600php, which is about 12usd. The drive is around 30 minutes depending on traffic.

If you organize your own transportation, ask the driver to bring you to the Haka Dive Center in Danao close to alona beach.

From the airport.

Once arrived at Panglao airport you have tricycles, taxis and even the bus waiting for you.

Tricycle. Taking a tricycle from Panglao airport will cost you around 300php, which is about 6usd. The drive is around 15 minutes going to Haka Dive Center.

Taxi/Van.We can arrange a taxi/van on arrival in Tagbilaran port, this will be 400php, which is about 8usd. The drive is only 10 minutes depending on traffic.
